COVID-19 SERVICE STATUS: ALL CLASSES OPEN TO PUPILS

Mrs O'Reilly and Miss Osborne

Term 5

In Year 3 we have been learning about the Stone Age.  During one lesson we excavated Stone Age ‘poo’!  We used cocktail sticks to dissect the ‘poo’ and discover what might have been in their diet.  We found they ate berries, nuts and seeds as well as some edible plants.  We learned that they also ate fish and meat; and that later in time they began to farm.  It was lots of fun even if it was a little disgusting!

In Science this term, 3LB have loved learning all about rocks and soils which has fitted in very well with their topic of ‘Meet the ancestors’ all about the Stone Age. The children explored a range of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and investigated their durability using a paperclip, their hardness using sand paper and permeability using water. They then explored the rocks’ density by investigating whether they would float. The children even investigated a pumice stone which they found floats!

Term 4
3RO worked hard in PE to create a sequence for their dance topic. They used what they had learnt in other terms about balance, coordination and jumps and put these together to create their partnered dance.

RO had lots of fun creating their own ‘Dream Garden’. They thought about what they would have in their garden and brought in and searched for resources to put it them. They also planted their own seeds to make them colourful and full of life!

Term 3
Term 1

Our topic in Science this term is ‘Forces’ which 3RO are loving! They have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with magnets and sorting materials out into what they think is magnetic and nonmagnetic.

3RO have enjoyed reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Their imaginations have been going wild! They have produced some fantastic work which has gone up on display in our classroom.

This week, we have begun to read The Iron Man which they are excited to learn more about.

Miss Osborne and Mrs O’Reilly are very impressed with the progress the class have made since coming back, they are very proud of 3RO!
