Mrs Woodcock

Term 5

In 4JW this term, we have been preparing hard for taking our multiplication tables check-up in Term 6.

We have continued to practice our times tables every day but have this term had the privilege of using the school IPads. There has been a LOT of healthy competition between class members and across Year 4 and we are all proud that we have improved our times from Week 1 at the start of Term 5 to the end of Term 5 as you can see from the spreadsheet below.

Term 4

Term 4 ended with a smile for 4JW as on Monday 29th March we were visited by 2 cricket coaches – Kieran and Shaz, from Gloucestershire Cricket Board who were helping us develop better batting and fielding skills.

First, in the warm-up, we paired-up and played “Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Cone” – where we had to listen carefully and beat our partner which was great fun!

Next, we improved our throwing skills practising catching a ball with good catching techniques.

Finally, we played a team game where we learnt how to hit a ball effectively and how to work as a team to improve at fielding.

Term 1

In 4JW we have got off to a great start, everyone is trying so hard and showing great resilience and perseverance, Mrs Woodcock is so proud of everyone!

At the start of this term we went on an (imaginary!) journey to the circus linked to our fantastic story “Leon and the Place Between”, this really helped us to create some of our own brilliant versions of a new story.

Our new story book is “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” by Kate DiCamillo (who is also our author of the term) – we are looking forward to reading about Edward the rabbits’ journey.

In Science, we are learning about Teeth and have made models of our jaws using clay:
