This term has been lots of fun so far. We have enjoyed learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel and we are looking forward to our trip to the SS Great Britain. In Maths, we have been learning to measure weight and we have been learning all about forces in Science.
We really enjoyed World Book Day and enjoyed listening to and sharing some of our favourite stories. Look at all our wonderful costumes! J
This term we have really enjoyed our topic – ‘What was life like for a Victorian child?’ The children have asked some fantastic questions and learnt some fascinating facts.
In English, we have been expanding our vocabulary and trying to incorporate it into our writing. In Maths, we have been learning different methods to add and subtract including pictorial methods and using a number line. Science has also been fun this term. We have been learning about different materials and their uses. We conducted an experiment to see which material would be the best to make an umbrella for Barnaby Bear. He got a little bit wet – poor Barnaby! In Art, we have been exploring different Art from the Victorian period. We designed our own willow plates and we are currently making our own clay pots with a Victorian design. We have also loved reading different stories from our ‘Author of the term’, Oliver Jeffers. I wonder what term 4 has in store…
Wow! Term 2 has been very busy so far!
In Maths, we have been learning all about 3D shapes and 2D shapes and talking about their properties. We have also enjoyed exploring money and working out how to make different amounts. In English, we have been writing about The Selfish Crocodile and we are going to be writing our own versions of the fable. Ask us if we can tell you the story!
We have started learning all about African Animals and we are really looking forward to our visit from Noah’s Ark. In RE, we have been talking about how special times in our lives are celebrated and we enjoyed talking about our successes.
Thank you for helping us to raise money for Children in Need – we had a fun time running, hopping, jumping and skipping all for a great cause!
We have had a fantastic start to the year in 1LA.
In Maths, we have enjoyed learning how to add and subtract using different resources and the bar model. In English, we have been reading instructions and learning how to write them too!
We also had a very special visit from a guide dog and learnt all about how they help people who are visually impaired.
