Mrs Sheppard and Mrs Hunter
This term in 1SH we have been learning about African animals. We have written about a selfish crocodile, created animal prints and researched facts about African animals. We have enjoyed finding out about African and the other continents and have started to look at the similarities and differences between African and where we live.
In week 5 we had a visit from Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. We were able to touch a python, hissing cockroach, giant snail and a leopard tortoise. It was great fun!
What a super start to Year 1!
We have settled in nicely and are really enjoying all areas of the Year 1 curriculum.
We started the year with an alien crash landing on our school grounds. We used this to begin our love of reading and writing.
In Maths, we have been learning about numbers and the number system. We have been representing numbers in different ways, adding and subtracting using a variety of strategies.
In Science, we have been finding out about ourselves. We had a visit from a guide dog and his handler to support our understanding of senses. We have enjoyed painting in art. We were very confident at creating star and tuck shapes in gymnastics and loved playing the glockenspiel in music.
